Producing high value-added based on advanced technology is one of the key elements in the vision of the Twelfth Development Plan of Türkiye.1 This vision is supported by a long-term roadmap for the year 2053, including a manufacturing industry that is a pioneer in digital transformation and ensures sustainable, competitive, and efficient production. The long-term roadmap also targets being within the top ten economies globally and top five economies based on purchasing power parity, and providing direction for global development. In this context, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) has specific roles in advancing the necessary infrastructure for research and development, providing support for innovative projects, and boosting the required qualified human resources. These are critical aspects of the National Technology Move. Most recently, the Industry and Technology Strategy for 2030 that was released by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye further determines five strategic objectives to take advances forward.2 These strategic objectives involve increasing domestic production capacity in high technology and critical areas, ensuring transitions to a digital economy as well as a green and circular economy, increasing integration into global markets and competitiveness, and supporting scalability in the manufacturing industry.
