Introduction
Türkiye was one of the first nations to recognize Israel in 1949. Historically, the ties have been influenced by several factors, for instance, domestic and regional dynamics and Ankara’s strategic alignment with Washington. Türkiye has leveraged it strategically to counterbalance ties with Israel and the U.S. In the 1950s, Türkiye’s strategic recalibration with regional and global power structures was shaped by the time’s political landscape. However, geopolitical realities and dynamics have since undergone substantial changes, and so have the foundational factors influencing Turkish-Israeli ties.
